Gator Adventure Productions particpates in Conservation in the following methods.
-Daily Education with guests that come into Gator Golf and Adventure Park, Boggy Creek Air Boat Rides and special events.
-Study the animals that we care for and apply new management techniques. We share these techniques with many other facilities around the world.
-Hand out literature on crocodile conservation.
-Practice recycling and going green when we can, by car pooling, reusing lumber, paper and other materials.
-Donate money to organizations that set up and manage crocodile conservation.
The American alligator was on the verge of extinction in the 1970's, with conservation efforts such as sustainable use programs (alligator farming) the wild alligators had relief from the hunters and were able to regain populations. Now there are close to 2 million alligators alone in the wilds of Florida.
This is not the case with many of the other species of crocodiles around the world. The Chinese Alligator Population is in the dozens now due to poisons and hunting. There are huge efforts being made to bring this species back to the wild. It is a slow process that involves money and politics. Every little bit helps.
Crocodilians play an important role in the enviroments around the world. They are a top predator in water ecosystems. Crocodilians, being apex predators are excellent indicators for the health of the aquatic ecosystem. This is why we need them, to keep the balance.
